According to Fort Worth police, Ahmed had stopped with friends after coming across the first crash. He got out of his vehicle to help those involved but was struck during a second collision.

Ahmed Dwabe Dies While Helping Others

Ahmed’s death has been especially difficult for his family and friends because he was remembered as someone who was willing to help others.

A family friend told CBS Texas that Ahmed did not appear to know the people involved in the original crash. He nevertheless stopped and got out to assist them.

The 18-year-old was later identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.

Driver Arrested After Fatal I-35W Crash

Police arrested the driver who struck Ahmed and the person was charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Investigators were also looking into the circumstances surrounding the crashes and whether other drivers could face responsibility in connection with Ahmed’s death.

Remembering Ahmed Habib Fadi Dwabe

Ahmed had a history of showing compassion toward others from a young age.

In 2017, when he was nine years old, he attracted attention after growing his curly hair long enough to donate it to help a child battling cancer. His mother, Faye Abunijmeh, said at the time that Ahmed wanted his hair to benefit someone facing the disease.

Friends later remembered Ahmed as kind, funny, lively and compassionate.

Following his death, about 50 friends reportedly gathered at Joshua City Park to remember him and release balloons in his honor.

Funeral Arrangements for Ahmed Dwabe

Traditional Muslim funeral services for Ahmed were planned for Saturday.

His death has left his family, friends and the wider Joshua and Fort Worth communities grieving the loss of a young man whose final moments were spent trying to help others.

Ahmed Habib Fadi Dwabe will be remembered by those who knew him for his kindness and willingness to step forward when someone needed help.
